New art posts!!!

Been super busy... always a good thing! zHere are some of my daily thoughts...

Character art

So I had an opportunity to do some Mickey Mouse character art. I was going out for a project with not knowing all the details...we as artists sometimes do that you know. What the client was looking for was a Mickey Mouse character artist for a style guide. Needless to say i do not have the time invested to know the nuances of Mickey Mouse as I do not draw him all day long(as style guides are what the whole company uses to do a character). I am a decent artist and draftsman but what a character artist does that specializes in a specific character is very specific. Needless to say I did not get the job:( I was bummed at first but the more I think about it the more I am thankful. I give the utmost respect to the character artists that have the dedication to draw the same character for a living...or a handful of characters for that matter. It really taught me something about myself and the way I approach a new project. I think in the future I will ask more questions and know the current level of my ability on a specific project. I am all for pushing to be better...but to compete in the big leagues with those that are the masters at what they do...you too must be a master. One day...practice makes perfect!

Todays art post...getting busy!

I am working on a personal project in my spare time and this is part of that world!

Today's art post...

Trying a little different approach to my process....getting rid of the dark harsh lines...at least from the sketch.

Creature...

Just a creature quickie:)

Tuesdays post...

It has been a long weekend and a poop Tuesday. Go figure! This is how I felt.

New /old character art.

New art....Wild Star fan art..

I sometimes emulate existing styles to learn how people work. this piece was referenced from an existing piece in the Wild Star universe. I learned a lot! I will keep going forward. I have been toying around with the idea of my own for a while...maybe it is time!

Wip alert!!!!

I am doing work for NASA and am getting the feel for the vintage space program. This piece is a sketch that I am going to go to finish on. Here is the preliminary sketch:)

Process...process...process....

Here is a logo with process. I went thru a lot with this piece. The client was extremely patient as I had quite a few things try and get in the way. At the end of the day he gave me the space I needed. My hats off to the good clients!

Small post

So I had a loss yesterday. My beautiful dog of 6 years passed on. He was very sick. We loved him and know that he is in a better place. This drawing is not related but I felt a need to post to keep my mind occupied.

Beastie!!!!

Here is a quick piece I did after looking around the web for dog reference. Just had the craving to do a beast ala beauty and the beast.
