Past project...

So I am not quite ready to post my daily sketch as it has turned into more of a spot illustration:) I will try to wrap it tonight. In the meantime the attached is a project I did years ago for a marketing corporation for the 25 year anniversary of the Born in the USA album. I really enjoyed this piece.More to come!

Character quick sketch

So the process has started. I have pulled reference...started the character studies...and started on the thumbnails. the murals have started:)))) I will be posting the process so this will be fun.

Here is my morning warm up. Still no Cintiq:((( Should be here soon. I will be starting a huge mural project as well and will be posting the art as I finish the concept. This is a start to a venture that I have always enjoyed. More to come!

So I am now just getting to my second sketch of the day. My new Cintiq should come this week!!!!! YAY! Till then...here is a quickie!!

Push the pose

In an effort to always improve I have started a quest to always push myself.  I always want to make better art and be the artist that I have always wanted to be. With that in mind I will continue to develop my style and "push" my art for better expression and character:) Enjoy!

Doggie concept:)))

Here are a couple of quick composition studies for a dog portrait I am working on. Direction was to do a lab with a duck in the mouth in a non traditional pose that focuses on the eyes. I like the 3/4 view the most:)))

Here is a quick piece I did this afternoon. I am finally going to get a Cintiq tablet for my home. I have worked on one for years at the firm I am at...time to expand the home studio:)))) Bigger and better things are coming so stay tuned!!!!

Monday alien:))))

So I am super busy...for the first time in a while:)))) I made a decision to change something and it has paid off! I am moving into a new area of my career and am loving every minute of it. I will be posting more and more so enjoy the ride:)))

So I decided to do a few more gals in my collection. I was also thinking of doing an app of all the drawings for a "daily wallpaper". I can think of a few Mondays I have drawn:)))) Anyway...once I reach 365 then I will create the app. Until then...enjoy!

New additional project...

So I have been tasked once again to do a wildlife piece. This time it is a dog holding a bird(retriever holding a duck). I did a pose a while back but had to change it up a bit as per client request. I am also waiting on a new Cintiq so I can move forward with painting all this stuff:))) This is a composition sketch...I will take screen caps and post as I move along.

So I am in the middle of a character design project and cannot post any of that stuff for a while...so I have a moment to spare I will do a quick head to stay loose. this one reminds me of some teachers I had growing up. I will do Mrs. Toll next. this is Mrs. White...she was pure evil:(((

So I am in the middle of collecting reference for a new character project and decided I needed a break. The new project is going to be yet another character exercise that I will eventually post here but in the meantime...this will have to do. Just a quickie!!!!

Old one but good one:))))

So I was in the Keys this weekend and Friday watching my super wife run 26.2 miles in the 94 degree heat...she was awesome:))) I did not however get the chance to sketch anything. I did see some very interesting types of people. Mainly the Key West zombies that roam the island. Think people that should not be alive but are and come out at night to prey on the tourists. It was very interesting....and I think later today I will try to do a few:))) In the meantime here is a sketch from a piece I did a while ago for a theme park. Think Medusa of the sea:)))

Inspector...

Here is a quick piece inspired by my illustration idol Peter de Seve. His work is something that I inspire to one day emulate. I love his lines and his character expression. the depth of his art is endless...like his ideas. Lots more to come:)))

Sometimes.......

So sometimes I have to take direction form a person that has zero experience or talent in the realm of art/drawing/visual development. They are basically on this planet to suck air and become worm food. You see...like many artists in the art field I have been trained to smile and secretly curve these people in such a way that what they are saying will actually make sense and become successful. What they do not know is the frustrated monster that lives inside of me. He has been there a while and I have been able to keep him in a cage. However...he is always there and sometimes he winks at me...asking me if he needs to step in. I will always say no and express myself in other more pleasant ways:)  Visually speaking of course! I suppose this is one version of my monster...before he gets mad:)))

Finally finished the headless horseman art. I also did a sculpt in sculptris or a head...cool program and very easy to use:)))

Here is my headless horseman update. I have about 3-4 hours left at most. I will be putting lots of details and atmospherics in the art. This will go into my archive:) Tis the season:))) I will post the final when complete!

Monday look back:)

So I had a pretty busy weekend. Family...car stuff...house stuff. This sketch is the first chance I have had to breathe in days. Mondays are not my favorite. I like to look back at the weekend and know that I will once again be with you:)))

I am currently in the midst of two pieces. I wanted to have a little bit more into a character so I am posting the turtle character I am working on. I am also doing a cool seasonal piece:) I will post the finals when complete.
