Caricature!!!

Late afternoon post:) I figured I would start doing a few longer sketches. this is a 15 minute sketch. Yes...it is who you think:))
Mid afternoon snack:) Tried to get more in for the time this time:) Going for a young "whipper snapper" feel:)))
Late morning post...It was hard to crank this one out. But as stated these are supposed to be simple expressions of character:)
This is an oldie but goodie:) This was done as an exercise in motion. I always intended getting back to it and doing a bunch of action poses. Maybe this can be the next gettin' ahead project. Thanks for looking:)

Getting ahead!!!! This is a 8 minute exercise:)))) BTW...all the art is done in Manga Studio pro. this is a new program for me. I just started using it about a month ago. I love the overall feel of the program. It went from a new program with some learning curve challenges to a useable piece of software in about 4 days:) I have also included a more rendered piece that I recently finished with the program. Alas...more to come:)

Like I said...these sketches are 5-10 minutes long. There is not a lot of time to do much. This is by design as I want to push character and feeling as a quick read. Anyway...I will be posting one every-time I get a moment. If it takes longer I will note that in the description:) Enjoy!
So!!!!! Welcome to my daily sketch blog...."Gettin' ahead". I named it this because I have been at a stable point in my career and have not changed much in years. I suppose it has its benefits in so many ways but alas I have started the fire of change. My background as a professional illustrator has stretched over 15 years and shows no sign of stopping. I have focused in my professional career on apparel and advertising art. My hobby art has always been character driven and whimsical. This blog will be an exercise in how I can get where I would like to be as an artist and as a person. I am sure this will be the start of something wonderfully hard and rewarding. Off to the races!!!!!!
Here we go!
These first group of sketches were started this weekend...lets say that I wanted to create en exercise to stretch my character creation abilities. This is a collection of 5-10 minute sketches. I only allowed myself 5-10 minutes for the piece. Once complete...I moved on! I will do one of these every chance I get( 5-10 minutes of course). I hope to do these for a while and maybe assemble them as a reference book later. Enjoy!!!!
